I find that a lot of musicians are lazy motherfuckers, resisting changes and holding onto the old ways because they are too lazy to try something different. They listen to the critics who tell them to stay where they are because thats what they like. The critics are lazy too. They don't understand music thats different. The old musicians stay where they are and become like museum pieces under glass, safe, easy to understand, playing that same old shit over and over again. They run around like talking about electronic music instruments and voicings fucking up the music and tradtion. Well.. I'm not like that and neither was Bird or Coltrane or Sunny Rollins or Duke or anybody, who wanted to keep up creating. It's not about standing still and becoming safe.
